West Fife

In Person

This is a chance to see an unrivalled collection of copies of 130 mediaeval carved stones from Britain and Ireland, above all Pictish.

They were carved on sandstone, based on the originals, by sculptor Leslie Alan Reid, who used them as templates for cloth-rubbings which were sold in outlets such as the National Museum of Scotland and Historic Environment Scotland.

The sculptor will be on hand to explain the designs on the stones and where and when the originals were created. A Lapidarium is a place where stone monuments and fragments of archaeological interest are exhibited !
