In Person

In 2016, caver, Mark Stanford, found the Well House shaft whilst exploring copper mines. Mark and a small band of enthusiastic volunteers have since been restoring it.

The Well House is the earliest surviving building associated with the Bridge of Allan spa town. Take a tour, look down the 35m mine shaft, see mining artefacts & speak to ex-miners.

Katie Strang {aka @paleokatie}, Scottish Geology Trust’s Engagement Office and Curator of Rocks and Minerals at the Huntarian, University of Glasgow will answer questions regarding the geology of the mine area / local buildings. Katie will accompany Catherine Mills on the Well House Walks.

Tours last approx. 30 mins.
