Shetland
The venue is an old walled burial ground from the 1850s with mature trees, and grave plots with wrought iron railings surrounds. It is in the town centre but is rarely visited and has no interpretive resources to guide visitors.
Shetlanders travelled far and wide and were renowned seafarers. Some of the people buried in this yard had travelled the world, and made their mark through various endeavours and practices. The yard includes memorials to Shetlanders buried in other countries.
There will be a guided talk and walk beginning at 10:30am on the history of the ground and those buried there.
Talk and Walk begins at 10:30am.
