Shetland
Garth Wind is a 5 turbine, community owned, wind farm situated in North Yell. The Wind farm can produce 4.5MW of power. Profits from the wind farm are used by the North Yell Development Council to invest in the community of North Yell.
Garth Wind has become the facilitator of connections and networks within the local community. It is the profits from the wind farm that allow NYDC to fund the work they do. Shetland is synonymous with wind and by harnessing this often inconvenient resource we have been able to action great, lasting change for our local community.
For Doors Open Days there will be a guided tour at 11am of the wind farm site, with the chance to see inside the turbines.
The minibus will collect people from Cullivoe School at 11am or alternatively people can meet at the gates to Garth Wind at 11:10.
