Union Chain Bridge
Scottish Borders
The Union Chain Bridge is the oldest vehicle carrying suspension bridge in the world still in use. It has just undergone an extensive restoration project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and is a partnership between Museums Northumberland, Northumberland County Council, Scottish Borders Council and The Friends of The Union Chain Bridge.
Join Museums Northumberland for a guided walk at The Union Chain Bridge to celebrate its re-opening; learn about the history of the bridge and this unique part of the River Tweed. This talk will be interactive and is suitable for all ages, including children.
We'll meet next to the Samuel Brown Statue on the English side of the bridge. Parking is available on the road on the approach to the bridge from the English side or make it a day out and visit the Chain Bridge Honey Farm and park there.
