Tim Stead's House
Scottish Borders
Situated in the beautiful Scottish Borders, the A-Listed Steading was the family home of sculptor, furniture maker, environmentalist and poet Tim Stead and widely recognised as his single most important work.
Three events are available as part of Doors Open Days:
Tours of The Steading: Take a tour through the Steading at Blainslie, the remarkable home of furniture maker Tim Stead. Hear the story of how it was saved by the nation by the Tim Stead Trust and of the Trust's inspiring plans for its future. This year's tours focus around Tim's environmentally friendly practice and his rich history in working to produce the first community woodland - Wooplaw - some 3 miles from The Steading. Tours will be at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm each day, for a maximum of 8 people, and will last approximately 1.5 hours.
Child-Friendly Workshop: Join the Saturday lunchtime tour (1.30pm) for a chance to take part in a child-friendly workshop on identifying woods. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Online Private View: Enjoy an exclusive private view of two short films by Scottish Filmmaker Beatrix Wood, on The History of Tim Stead & Wooplaw Community Woodland. Digital event.
