Stow Station House
Scottish Borders
Stow Railway Station - including the Station House - was first opened by the Edinburgh and Hawick Railway Company in November 1848. It was both a house for the station master and a public building. After the railway closed in 1969 it was converted to two houses, but became redundant when the Borders Railway reopened in 2015.
Stow Community Trust recently completed a project to refurbish and extend the building for use as a bar/kitchen, multi-purpose space and cycle hub. It is the first and currently only original railway building open to the public on the reopened Borders Railway.
Come along to an informal tour of the award winning Station House building, to learn about its history and recent transformation to a vibrant hub for the local community. Hosted by Stow Community Trust and Galawater History and Heritage Association.
Visitors will also be invited to join a heritage walk covering Stow's medieval history. Please see separate listing for further details.
