Grandstand, Kelso Races
Scottish Borders
In Person
Racing at Berrymoss started in 1822, and the Old Grandstand dates to that year. It was designed by renowned architect John Carr in a classical style and survives with many of its features intact. It is one of the oldest racecourse grandstands in the world and the oldest sporting building in Scotland.
Take a tour of the Grandstand, and learn about the history of the building and horse racing at Kelso. We will talk about elements of horseracing which have remained the same over 200 years, as well as the developments and changes that have come about over time.
Tours will take approximately 50 minutes.
Tours at 12 noon, 1pm, and 2pm.
