Perth & Kinross
Historic Walled Garden in the grounds of Murray Royal, established to feed the tenants of Pitcullen House. The garden is now leased from the NHS by PKAVS a local charity, supporting people from Perth and Kinross in their recovery from poor mental health and wellbeing issues by providing meaningful activity.
For Doors Open Days there will be an opportunity to explore the walled garden, speak with the staff, and possibly take part in some heritage workshops.
The Walled Garden was created in the grounds of The James Murray Royal lunatic asylum. Although the terminology has changed and medicine has advanced in the treatment of people and their mental health, the use of gardening and being outside amongst nature, using art and creativity remains the same.
