Morenish Yard

New

14 September 2024 (10:00 - 17:00)

Perth & Kinross

In Person
2024 Theme

A contemporary new-build house, Morenish Yard, created with architects Kirsty Lees and David McMillan, replicates the shape of a Scottish long house. The zinc-clad building appears to float above its stone foundation. The interior, which is the focus of my work, is designed to help root the building in its setting and quietly nestling into the surroundings with a colour palette of soft greens, yellows, pinks and browns, that borrow from the mountainous Loch Tay views.

Materials combine to create a sense of warm minimalism and include concrete with exposed aggregate, warm Douglas fir wood, handmade zellige and flattish-toned encaustic tiles, and textiles that are comforting to touch. These reference the rugged-meets-smooth aspects of the surrounding landscape.

Interior designer Jill Macnair will be present to show people around in small groups. There will also be local craftspeople and makers showing and selling their Scottish-made interior products.
