Exhibition:The Story of the RNLI Locally and Nationally.
The year 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, and SHS has worked in partnership with the Stornoway branch of the RNLI to set up a commemorative exhibition in our Society premises in Stornoway Town Hall. Alongside the national story, we relate the history of our local lifeboats from 1887: the stories and photos of the rescues, the lifeboat crew members, the coastguards, the rescue helicopter and the other groups that support our local lifeboat station.
Stornoway Historical Society staff will be present throughout the day.
