Kinloch Historical Society (KHS) was formed on 06 December 1983.  We are a volunteer run organisation whose purpose is to collect, record and promote the heritage and genealogy of the Kinloch area on the Isle of Lewis for future generations.

Our museum and archive has information on both the forced emigrations and voluntary emigrations that took place throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.  We share the history of the land wars, when people were moved off their land to make way for sheep and deer, many choosing to emigrate to America, Canada and Australia.  We also have information on people from Kinloch who travelled to Patagonia and Easter Island.

The Kinloch Historical Society will provide free entry into our museum on Saturday 21 September from 10am – 4pm.  Visitors can immerse themselves in the history, heritage and culture of the area through engagement with our open exhibitions, digital boards and knowledgeable staff.
