Orkney Archive has been in existence since 1973. It is primarily an Archive of Orkney Islands Council records, but also collects and looks after archives which describe all aspects of Orkney life through the centuries. Dates range from the 15th century to the present day and the collections include estate records, historians records, council records, sheriff court records, health board records, church records, newspapers, individual family papers, admiralty court records, photographs, books, sound archives and many more.
