In Person 2024 Theme Moray St Laurence Church, Forres 7 September 2024 The present St Laurence Church stands on a site which has been used for Christian worship since the middle of the 13th century, when Scots King Alexander III erected a chapel in honour of St Laurence as a memorial to his late wife Margaret. The present building is relatively modern. Its foundation stone was laid on 17th August 1904 and the building was first opened for worship on 28th February 1906, prior to which the congregation worshipped in Cumming Street Church. In Person Moray St Margaret's Church, Aberlour new 7 September 2024 St Margaret’s Church is part of the Scottish Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness. The building is Grade A listed with many fine architectural features. It was designed by Alexander Ross and was built between 1875 and 1879. There is a historic link to the former Aberlour Orphanage which it was built to serve. Some of the orphanage records are kept in the church. In Person Moray Tugnet Icehouse at the Scottish Dolphin Centre 7 September 2024 The Tugnet Icehouse is the largest remaining Icehouse in the UK, and was used in the salmon fishing station in Spey Bay to store ice. The ice was used to keep salmon and trout fresh before it was transported to other parts of the UK. The Icehouse is now managed as part of the Scottish Dolphin Centre, run by the charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation.
