2024 Theme

St Andrew Boat Club is based on the Union Canal and has been since 1846.  Our boathouse was completed in 2021 and is the largest such facility on the Union Canal.  It offers indoor training space as well as space for forty boats and our motto is “Rowing for all”.

Static displays relating to the Club’s history (including information on the oldest known sports team photograph in the world). Rowing boats from different eras on show. Guided tours of the boathouse, including information about the building and about the other boathouses occupied by the Club on the Union Canal since 1846. Competition on the Club’s rowing machines. Refreshments available.

Guided tours of the building will be available every half an hour.

2024 Theme - Heritage of Routes, Networks and Connections

The history of St Andrew Boat Club and of the various boathouses it has occupied along the Union Canal since 1846 is bound up with the history of the canal and of changes in use. This will be reflected in our displays and in the historical talk that will form part of the guided tour.
