Granton Castle Walled Garden
Edinburgh
Granton Castle Walled Garden has stood on the coast of north Edinburgh since the turn of the 16th century and is managed by the community. It is a historic green-space where anyone can volunteer or visit. The Friends of Granton Castle Walled Garden run five volunteer and two visitor sessions per week, alongside a wide range of seasonal workshops (wreath-making, eco-therapy, flower arranging, tree planting, wassailing). The community garden is a space for a number of collaborative charities to run sessions and hosts four social enterprises – Ochre Botanical Studios, beekeeping, MycoBee Mushrooms and dye-plant and ecoprinting.
Starting at the gate, visitors will walk for approximately 20 minutes with a volunteer guide pointing out significant historic and horticultural aspects. Depending on numbers, starting at 14.20 and 15.20.
