Tayport Parish Church
East Fife
Ever wondered why there are so many church buildings in towns and villages in Scotland?
The church buildings in Tayport tell the story of how the Scottish Presbyterian church has developed over the centuries. Tayport Queen Street church was built by George Just in 1843 after the Disruption in the national Church of Scotland.
The church is set within garden grounds and was built in the Victorian Gothic-style. The frontage is divided by finialed buttresses and is surmounted by an octagonal belfry and spire. There is a fine pipe organ built into the east wall and the wooden pulpit is incorporated into the organ front.
Visit us on Doors Open Days to see how all the other church buildings fit in to the tale of the development of Christianity in Tayport.
