Milngavie Waterworks - Walk by the Milngavie Heritage Centre Group and Local Historian.

New

8 September 2024 (12:00 - 14:00)

East Dunbartonshire

Milngavie water treatment works (commonly known as The Waterworks) is a Scottish Water operated water treatment facility located in Milngavie. It is the primary source of water for the city.

As Glasgow's population grew, the need for a reliable source of clean water became increasingly urgent. The city faced recurring cholera outbreaks which claimed many lives, underscoring the necessity for higher-quality water than was available from existing sources.

Don't miss the chance to join a guided walk around Milngavie Waterworks, led by a passionate local historian from the Milngavie Heritage Centre Group discussing this and more, on the afternoon of Sunday 8th September.
