Theatre Royal Dumfries
Dumfries and Galloway
In Person
Scotland’s oldest working theatre, the Theatre Royal Dumfries opened in 1792. It has a long and rich history, undergoing several changes in its design and purpose, including roller rink and cinema. It was saved from demolition in 1959 by the Guild of Players, becoming the home of Dumfries’s amateur dramatic club.
Go behind the scenes at the theatre and meet the Guild. Members of the Guild of Players will be here to welcome visitors and share their experiences of the many different aspects of putting on a show.
Backstage tours will be available at 10.30am, 12 noon, and 1.30pm
