Kirkcudbright Town Walk - Kirkcudbright History Society
Dumfries and Galloway
Kirkcudbright History Society holds monthly meetings from October to March covering a wide range of topics of local history interest - join them for two events this Doors Open Days.
The Kirkcudbright town walk offers a guided tour of the historic centre of the medieval port and burgh, granted a royal charter in 1455, and at one time defended by a town wall and gates of sufficient strength to withstand an English attack in 1547. The route is a walk through time, from the medieval period to the present day, and introduces many colourful characters and surprising events from the town’s past.
On Sunday 8th September there will be two walks:
- 11am - 12:30pm
- 2:30pm - 4pm
Meet at Information Centre in the Harbour Square.
