The story of the Covenanters is a pivotal chapter in Scottish history, characterised by their fierce fight for religious freedom amid political upheaval.
Our museum is primarily dedicated to the men and women of Lochgoin and Fenwick who played such a major role during what is referred to in Scottish history as “the killing times”. The museum contains many artifacts from the period, including swords and drums used in battle, and video info presentations and story boards providing fantastic insight into notable covenanting characters from Fenwick and the surrounding villages.
For Doors Open Days trustees of the Lochgoin and Fenwick Covenanters Trust will be present to provide additional information and answer any questions.
The Lochgoin Museum has strong ties to the community of Fenwick and Fenwick Parish Church, where many Covenanters graves lie. At the museum there will be digital demonstration of the “Covenanters Trail” – a new walking route that has been created by the trust joining the museum and the church.
Lochgoin Museum trustees will also be supporting at the Fenwick Parish Church doors open event on Sunday the 15th.
