Tod Head Lighthouse

Aberdeenshire

In Person

Tod Head Lighthouse was built by David Alan Stevenson in 1897. It was decommissioned by the Northern Lighthouse Board in 2008 when all of the light mechanisms were removed. It was sold into private ownership in 2012 and in 2018 Tod Head won ‘Highly Commended’ in the Aberdeenshire Architectural & Landscape Design Awards.

Doors Open Days allows for a rare opportunity for visitors to climb the lighthouse tower encompassing the light room, lamp room and outer gallery which are now part of a private residence, and experience stunning views out over the sea and Shire.

All visits must be pre-booked; places are limited due to the size of the property and availability of parking. Road access is via a single-track road with limited passing places.

Available time slots are: 10.15am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1.15pm, 2.15pm, 3.15pm

Please book your tour here

Note: Please be aware that whilst the access road is public, it is in a very poor condition, particularly the ¼ mile section immediately after the farm to the corner of road above the lighthouse.
