The Sand Bothy
Aberdeenshire
The Sand Bothy was built in the 1980’s originally as a Beach Rangers base. After remaining closed for about 15 years, Belhelvie Community Trust reopened the building to the public in 2016. The Sand Bothy aims to be a hub for the local community and visitors from afar. Run by volunteers, you can find the Kiosk open at the weekends (April-October) for ice-creams and refreshments. The main room houses an information centre, where you can find out about everything from local wildlife, shipwrecks and local history.
Additionally, we will be hosting an exhibition with two local Artists, Sarah Peacock and Rachel Sinclair. They will be visiting The Sand Bothy to show and sell some of their artworks.
Don’t miss this opportunity to find out more of the history of the building and the work we do with other organisations such as Balmedie Beach Wheelchairs who provide free hire of all-terrain wheelchairs for families to explore Balmedie beach. Belhelvie Community Trust is a Scottish Charitable Organisation.
