Aberdeenshire
The Tarves Heritage Centre has made its home in an old Victorian school in the heart of the Aberdeenshire conservation area of Tarves village. Within the heritage centre visitors will have the opportunity to experience what a Victorian schoolroom would have looked liked as a replica of the room as it was in 1881 when it first opened to both boys and girls, has been created.
Within the Tarves Heritage Centre you will also find the Corbert Room which contains extensive memorabilia and displays from bygone days reflecting local, rural life and social history.
Over the weekend volunteer guides will be on hand to inform your visit. There will also be the chance to dress up in period clothing and play with children’s toys form the Victorian era, writing with slates and pencils and pen and ink exercises. All perfect photo opportunities!
