Manar House
Aberdeenshire
An elegant example of a Georgian Mansion, Manar House stands majestically within the heart of the Don Valley between the River Don and Bennachie. The estate in its entirety is made up of manicured grounds and parkland, agricultural land and ancient woodlands.
Manar House was designed and built by renowned architect John Smith and is considered an important early commission for the man who went on to become City Architect to Aberdeen. Smith’s crowning glory was to win the commission from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to build their new castle at Balmoral (1853) following the purchase of the Estate in 1848.
Beautifully restored in recent years the house is still primarily a family home. Self-catered guest suites are also now available and the house and grounds/estate are available for events & location shoots. We also offer Scottish native breed agri-tourism experiences with our resident Highland cows and ponies who enjoy the lush organic pastures at Manar.
