Aberdeenshire
Come and visit Kinnaird Head Castle and Lighthouse, the very first lighthouse on mainland Scotland (1787) and visit the purpose-built museum which sits alongside. The museum tells the great story of the Northern Lighthouse Board, the engineers who built the lights and the keepers who tended them. It is a story of skill, courage, technical genius, and brilliant organisation.
Both ‘The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses’ and ‘Kinnaird Head Castle and Lighthouse’ will be free to visit on Doors Open Days, an opportunity not to be missed.
Tickets to partake in a tour of the lighthouse will be available for collection in the museum building. Visitors are advised to park their vehicles in the museum car park while they attend both venues.
