Aberdeen City
In Person
The Belmont Cinema is a much-loved part of the cultural heritage of Aberdeen. The cinema was designed by local architects and opened in 1896 as a Trades Hall. It opened as a cinema in 1910 and for decades has been showing an eclectic range of films. After closing in 2022 a charity was formed to save the cinema.
The foyer, projection room and screen one will be open to the public. There will also be boards displaying the architects visualisation - the refurbishment will create a welcoming and accessible cultural community venue. A short film made by Film Foundation Apprenticeship students from Kemnay Academy will be shown during visits.
