Gilcomston Church
Aberdeen City
The main building was built in the 1860s by Architect William Smith (whose initials are carved on a stone underneath the small front windows) and was opened in 1868. It is built of grey granite and sandstone, with red and black granite stones around the arches and window openings. It was granted Grade B Listed Status in 1990. The building originally had accommodation for 1200. It is in the early decorated Gothic style.
A chance to explore the building that’s been a landmark on Union Street for over 150 years: from the massive ‘wheel-window’ and impressive pipe organ to the comfortable seating and the presentation screens. Stewards will be on hand to answer any questions.
On Saturday the building will be open 10:00 - 14:00, and on Sunday from 10:00 - 13:00.
