WHO COORDINATES DOORS OPEN DAYS IN WEST DUNBARTONSHIRE?
Jeremy Watson : Lennox Heritage Society
West Dunbartonshire (14th September)
Some selected venues participating in this anniversary year which usually only participate every second year.
I'm a retired architect and, amongst other things, chairman of the local Lennox Heritage Society and I enjoy being very active locally in the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland.
I restarted the Doors Open Days programme in West Dunbartonshire 3 years ago.
Community participation and interest from further afield, even overseas, is one of my favourite parts of Doors Open Days, as is educating people about the local environment. I take pride in showing off our local heritage.
One of my favourite moments from my Doors Open Days experience was having the European Heritage Days / Doors Open Days flag flying from the newly restored and extended Burgh Halls, now the Council Offices.
This year Strathleven House and the Maid of the Loch remain our star attractions from our programme.
