WHO COORDINATES DOORS OPEN DAYS IN SOUTH LANARKSHIRE?

I have a remit to look after town centres. Doors Open Days encourages people to visit their centres and the wider area thus bringing new visitors to our town centres. I have been coordinating the event for South Lanarkshire for 10 years.
The role was traditionally carried out by the Planning department but came to Economic Development as part of our tourism and events remit.
What I enjoy about Doors Open Days is getting to know the new venues in the area and meeting new people. It can be challenging to coordinate all the information in a timely manner.
One of my favourite memories from my time coordinating Doors Open Days in South Lanarkshire is Having a record number of visitors to Hamilton Mausoleum.
It is difficult to choose a favourite venue from this year's programme, but Little Sparta and Biggar Puppet Theatre have come on board this year as new venues and I think they are really worth a visit!
